Our Story
The Chequers Inn is a 400 year old family run pub with a well known reputation for real home cooked food, real ales and genuine hospitality. It is situated in the small hamlet of Hall End on the edge of the village of Wootton in Bedfordshire. Surrounded by open countryside, country lanes and many public footpaths it is ideal for those country walks that end with a cold drink and a good meal. The Chequers Inn has a great bar that makes you feel that you traveled back in time to an era when life wasn't so hectic, and a comfortable restaurant with the new conservatory addition that opens out onto the enclosed garden. On your visit you may see the Landlady, Lianne, behind the bar or she may be cooking in the kitchen. Other bar staff include her Mother Gwynneth or her Father Alan, whilst her Uncle Trevor may be outside mowing the lawns of one of the beautiful garden areas Our menus change seasonally and have a variety of dishes from a quick ciabatta at lunch to one of our succulent homemade steak burgers or you could join us on a Sunday and enjoy our carvery with a choice of three tender roast meats! For the real ale drinkers among us, we offer three to four weekly changing cask ales which are kept in the best possible condition and the lowest possible price. During the winter months you can cosy up with a baileys hot chocolate of mulled wine in front of our inglenook fire and during the summer you can enjoy our vast well meticulously kept gardens with a game of petanque to pass the afternoon away.
The Chequers Inn is not just a public house, it is a public home |
